Asteroid impact, deadly virus, economic collapse or alien invasion, doesn’t really matter what could happen to cause everything to enter “chaos mode.” Have you ever considered what you need to have with you if anything of the above actually happened? Everyone would probably say you need a gun, a machete and some sort of “armored truck” but in reality there are more things to consider taking with you. There are probably hundreds of things you would want to take with you, but you can actually get by with only a few.
Everyone has a different conception of how the end of the world would happen. A Zombie invasion would be pretty awesome according to many people who watch the famous “Walking Dead Series,” but some people think that the world will end because of the third world war, a nuclear winter, extreme weather changes, alien invasion or anything else that fits into that “science fiction” category. Whatever the case, there are some items that you should consider having by your side, just incase Aliens decide to attack, or Zombies start walking around.
Here is our list:
A Solar Charger: You maybe won’t need to check your Facebook profile with your iPhone once the world “ends”, but a solar charger can do much more. It can be used to charge all sorts of devices. Solar energy is free and having a solar charger is something you should consider buying just in case the world does end and electrical power disappears.
A Radio/lamp: These are actually two devices composed into one. This is one of the most important artifacts to have by your side. The lamp can be used to light your way in the dark white the radio is useful if you want to search for anyone else out there. Maybe someone somewhere will be transmitting a signal telling you to come to safety. Dont forget batteries.
A multi use wristwatch: You need a good watch, one with a compass, resistant to shock, water, so you can dive a couple of feet and most importantly, a wristwatch that does not need a battery change. The Casio Pro Trek are one of those ideal End-of-The-World watches. It has a digital compass, altimeter, barometer, thermometer (very important), resistant to 100 meters under water, has 5 alarms, LED light to see better in the dark, an amazing calendar with exact dates to the year 2099 and the best part is the battery which is charged by solar energy.
Can opener: When the end of the world knocks on your door you won’t be able to choose much what you eat. Canned foods should be the number one item on your survival list. A simple can opener will allow you to open up those cold beans, spaghetti or tuna.
Space Blanket: Yes you would need a space blanket to keep you warm in the cold nights when the end of the world strikes. You cannot know for sure if there will be buildings left… who knows where you would have to sleep. To make sure you are comfortable at night, s space blanket will do the job of keeping you warm unless of course you are in the south pole. Oh, and the space blanket is really thin and lightweight so you wont have to worry much about dragging heavy things with you.
Swiss Army Knife: Its one of those must-have items that you should definitely carry with you when the world ends. You can use the Swiss Army Knife for a lot of things. Opening bottles, cutting stuff, personal hygiene and as a weapon.
Perhaps one of the most important things to have with you when the world ends is a Water-purifying canteen. Dont expect that you will be able to find lots of water around you when the world ends. Purified water will be something hard to find. Simply fill the canteen with water from rivers or lakes, and its filter will remove any toxins and viruses making it drinkable. Remember that without water you won’t last very long out there, on the cold desolate surface of what remains of planet Earth. Make sure to pack a couple of these.
Oh and don’t forget that you need a resistant and relatively light backpack so you can carry all of the above things with you. Don’t panic, stay focused and look out for yourself.
What have we missed in our end of the world list? What would you add to it and take with you when the end of the world knocks on the door? Or is there something you would not take with you when the world ends? Anyway let us know what you think.
