While you’re in the kitchen preparing a wholesome, organic meal, what might your child be viewing on television just in the next room?
If you’re like most Americans who watch between 4-6 hours of television per day, it really could be anything. And as we discovered recently, it could even be an advertisement by Monsanto seeking to get your kids to blindly accept GMOs.
Don’t believe us? This is a screenshot of their commercial airing history (shared by RealFarmacy):
That’s right, the corporate giant is seeking to teach your kids through propagandized media that GMOs are nothing to be concerned about. Such would seem like their plan, anyway, as a majority of the population is in favor of GMO labeling and organic food options. If they can’t convince this generation, how about the next?
As shared by RealFarmacy, the following ad was – and still is being – played during children television hours.
The inviting calm of the woman’s voice, the excitement of gathering around a table with friends and family, and the blatant propaganda displayed across the screen is the perfect marketing tool for making people feel more comfortable about genetically engineered foods.
This is where it becomes VERY important for you, as a consumer and possibly a parent, to get educated on what really is in your food, and the more-than-likely health risks caused by a genetically contaminated food supply. If kids are fed (in more ways than one) propaganda by corporate giants who now influence the USDA and other governmental agencies, the future looks bleak indeed.
But as parents, guardians, teachers, and respected professionals in you own field, you have immense power in being able to influence and speak out on concerns that matter. You might be slandered like Dr. Oz, but the truth will always get out eventually, and until everything there is to know about GMOs is known, we need more activists willing to draw attention to the cause.
According to a “Food Babe” email newsletter, “… this commercial has also aired on Food Network, ABC Family, HGTV, and even on Pandora! They might be launching a HUGE media campaign, but our message is still getting out there.”
And it is, indeed. Everyone now knows about Monsanto, and awareness is increasing on the daily:
Mainstream media has a substantial reach, but you – as an aware individual in your community – have even more influence and power than a corporate giant like Monsanto. Individually we are limited, but collectively we control what chemicals are allowed on our crops and can mandate the labeling of GMOs everywhere.
