Your morning routine sets the tone for your whole day, preparing you for everything that is to follow. While some people are naturally morning people, others struggle with the idea of getting up and moving, hitting the ‘snooze’ button as many time as they are able to get away with.
What would you say if there was a better way?
The Dalai Lama recently revealed what he claims to be the perfect morning routine, setting yourself up with a positive mindset ready to achieve more and be successful. This routine will allow you to be more compassionate to others and work towards
“Every day, think as you wake up, today I am fortunate to be alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others; to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. I am going to have kind thoughts towards others, I am not going to get angry or think badly about others. I am going to benefit others as much as I can.”

In order to start your day on the right foot, follow this meditation practice. This will allow you to let go of negativity and embrace the potential of positivity in the day to follow.
Find A Comfortable Position
Locate a quiet room in which you can go through this meditation without being interrupted. You want to be comfortable, whether that is on a chair, a cushion or lying down.
Be Aware of Your Body
Allow yourself to genuinely notice and feel your body. Allow any tension you are currently holding onto leave your body. Relax and breathe.
Focus on Your Breathing
Allow yourself to tune into your breathing pattern, feeling the natural flow. You don’t need to change or alter your breathing, just embrace and feel it. Allow it to feel natural.
Be Patient with Yourself
You may find that your mind wanders. This is entirely natural, so try not to be too hard on yourself! Accept that you are engaging in thoughts about whatever topic happens to be engaging in your mind, and then bring your attention back to your breathing again.
Continue for Five to Seven Minutes
Continue to focus on your breathing and remain in this relaxed state.
Check in With Your Body
Before you allow yourself to check out of your morning routine, take the time to check in with your body. Continue to relax any tension as you slowly allow yourself to come out of the meditation.
