“I’ve seen things which no human being has ever seen before, and no other human being will ever see again. I retreated to nature and took five grams of dried mushrooms in order to prepare for this role.”
True Hallucinations is a film by Peter Bergmann, where Jim Carrey is rumored to play philosopher Terence McKenna.

“Much of the problem of the modern dilemma is that direct experience has been discounted and in its place, all kinds of belief systems have been erected.”
Jim Carrey is one of the more aware individuals to have held the public’s attention, so he may be the perfect actor to portray Terence McKenna, an ethnobotanist, mystic, Psychonaut, lecturer, author, and an advocate for the responsible use of natural psychedelic plants.
With more scientific studies coming out about mushrooms (psilocybin) being able to help combat mental disorders, and the laws against drugs tightening more than ever, it is rejuvenating to see a high profile figure advocating the idea of natural psychedelics being useful in a pharmaceutical way.
There is an actual documentary about McKenna called True Hallucinations, and it looks like a perfect role for Jim Carrey to portray. It is a bit lengthy, but if you have the time check out the documentary here:
