Monroe, Louisiana is home to a tiny hero. First-grader Branson Lee found himself at the right place at the right time to save a pair of twins who snuck away from their parents and wandered into a swimming pool. The twins were unconscious in the water when Branson found them — and he jumped right into the pool to save them.
Kaden and Isaac Kelley wandered away from a family gathering after a Sunday church service. In the evening, after the pool party had ended, someone forgot to lock the doors leading to the pool. After sneaking out, the twins fell into the pool, unbeknownst to the adults at the party.
Branson’s mother, Courtney, told reporters that they were about to leave for home and had already bid the twins goodbye. Before leaving, she stopped to talk with her sister while the rest of the children were watching television. Gone only for a couple of minutes, the twins found themselves lost in the pool.
“My nephew happened to be walking outside because his little brother, who is the same age as my boys, was wandering outside too. He saw his brother and grabbed him, and that is when he saw my babies. And he ran outside and grabbed them and pulled them up out of the pool and started yelling for us,” said the twins’ mother Jeannie.
Branson dove into the pool while yelling for help.
“He said he just dove in, he knew is he had to try to save them! It was a miraculous thing to know that at 6 years old he didn’t just scream and run away. He didn’t just ignore it or stand there in shock. He just immediately acted and allowed God to do the rest,” said Branson’s mother.
Branson began imitating something he had seen his mother do, and performed CPR while waiting for help to arrive. The twins were unresponsive, until their father took over CPR and notified emergency services.
It was a miracle that the boys began to come back to life. Coughing up water, they began to breathe again. Were it not for the heroic efforts of young Branson Lee, those children may have died.
“My preacher preached a message Sunday morning right after he dedicated them, and it was called “Do it again.” He talked about how the Lord performed miracles, and he still performs miracles. If he did it once, he can do it again. He talked about God making provisions in your life and lining everything up for your good in any circumstance. It was so amazing how everything came together, because if one thing had changed, other than the door being locked like it should have, if anything had changed, who knows what the outcome would have been. Everything just lined up perfect. Everyone just had their place whether they were praying or alerting us. It was amazing.”
