The Hippie movement changed the world in the 60’s, influencing every facet of culture. What was a beautiful movement, though, was sadly short-lived. It seems that most modern-day hippies are part of a “normal” social group, far-removed from the days of Woodstock and cross-country road trips.
Nowadays, we have the successors to the hippies’ free-spirited ideals: Rainbow Children. Their “Rainbow Gatherings” are loosely knit communities of individuals who congregate in remote places, sharing in an ideology of freedom, harmony, and respect for all living things.
Anyone may attend the rainbow festivals. Their self-stated goal is to create a more inclusive society that eschews modern notions of consumerism and mass media.
