GMO’s cause significant damage to the environment and human health, including the production of new allergens, increased toxicity, decreased nutrition, and antibiotic resistance!
And some corporations and governments branches want to keep people in the dark. What’s more, they fight to silence the dangers that GMO’s inflict to our health, and invent stories to cover up the environmental and economic impact of their experiments.
Known Health Risks
GMO’s cause significant health issues to humans. The process of genetic modification forces the genes of a particular organism to express certain traits. To achieve this, scientists “switch on” all of the gene’s pieces, which releases allergens that in normal circumstances would never be expressed in a non-GMO variety.
Experts like Jeffrey Smith suggest this is directly related to the rise in health issues. Also, between the heavy use of pesticides and the GMO’s themselves, we’ve seen a sharp increase in digestive health concerns, cancer, and the resistance of super bugs.
The health and wellness impact alone should be enough to boycott GMO’s. They do not feed people. They hurt people. They strip away people’s health and corner them when it comes to choosing alternatives because they pay governments to block mandatory GMO labeling.
Environmental and Economic Impact
GMO’s cause damage to the environment by polluting the air, water, and soils. Marketed by Monsanto as the herbicide Roundup, the product is, in essence, an antibiotic. It destroys soil quality and in turn impairs the plant’s nutritional value.
Cross-pollination between GMO and non-GMO crops is also common. In most cases, it can destroy natural plant varieties in the wild. And despite weak claims that pesticides and GMO crops help farmers shield against crop-destroying insects and plants, the opposite has proved to be true. Farmers in the Midwest now battle super bugs and super weeds resistant to any previously available pesticides. They’re damaging crops and farm equipment and costing the farmers more money in having to apply heavier doses of toxic pesticides.
And since Monsanto owns the patents on their seeds, they can, through legal force, destroy small farms who resist them and their agenda. This causes irreparable economic damage and a monopolized food chain which, as we’ve seen, the government earnestly supports.
Right To Know
People want to know when their food choices contain GMO’s. But government agencies and corporations alike will do their best to prevent that from happening. And despite the countless petitions and appeals for state or federal regulations on labeling foods that contain GMOs, none of them got through.
And that means companies, like Monsanto, don’t have to disclose whether or not a product includes genetically modified organisms. We are treated as part of a business model, not as people. Governments and corporation care more about their bottom line than our health. Unless we stand for our beliefs and boycott Monsanto and similar corporations, nothing will change. Remember, both corrupt governments and corporations succeed when the public remains ignorant and nonresponsive to obvious violations of transparency and human rights.
We have the right to know what we eat. And if corporations and government agencies won’t help us identify GMO foods, then we will take it into our own hands. Become a conscious shopper. Avoid these companies and their products whenever possible. In doing so, you’ll improve the quality of your life and those around you, including the environment and the farmer’s locked in the choking grip of companies like Monsanto.
