It’s up to us as individuals to take more responsibility for our health by determining which sources of information are valid and which are not, then applying any newly learned principles of good health on or own.
It’s more difficult and confusing now with all the information that comes across mainstream media. Most of it is promotional hype for pharmaceutical drugs that harm more than help in the long run.
Understand, our bodies are scheduled to die at some time while we as spirits continue in other realms. But why be miserable during our bodily stay with chronic non-infectious disease or autoimmune diseases?
These various disease states threaten our health worse than overly hyped infectious disease epidemics. The root of non-infectious diseases and much of infectious disease is being discovered more and more as inflammation.
But it’s not new. It was discovered by a doctor back in the day when doctors decided how to treat with concern of banishment from the medical mafia cult.
Do You Know of Toxemia as the Source of Disease?
Introducing Dr. John Tilden, MD, whose book Toxemia Explained: The True Interpretation of the Cause of Disease was written in 1926. That was when MDs were less restricted with complications of our current medical business model that restricts medical doctors, forcing them to strike at the limbs and not the roots of disease.
You’ll be able to access all 150 pages with a free pdf at the end of this article. Here’s Dr. Tilden’s definition of Toxemia:
In the process of tissue building—metabolism—there is cell building—anabolism—and cell destruction—catabolism. The broken down tissue is toxic and in health—when nerve energy is normal—it is eliminated from the blood as fast as evolved.
When nerve energy is dissipated from any cause—physical or mental excitement or bad habits—the body becomes enervated, when enervated, elimination is checked, causing a retention of toxin in the blood or Toxemia.
This accumulation of toxin when once established will continue until nerve energy is restored by removing the causes. So-called disease is nature’s effort at eliminating the toxin from the blood. All so-called diseases are crises of Toxemia.
Dr. Tilden explains how at first there is irritation, then inflammation, which if not detected and handled or avoided completely with some basic healthier approaches to living results in inflammation.
After over 80 years since Dr. Tilden’s book, there are finally a few more medical professionals recognizing inflammation as the source of most diseases. But compared to 1926, our toxic load insult is much worse today.
So we need to detox more often. That’s another subject, but there are several decent DIY protocols you can research on your own. Once every three months should do for most of us.
Inflammation Briefly Explained
There are two types of inflammation: Acute and Chronic. The former includes fever, a natural immune system reaction that helps begin the healing process that shouldn’t be overly intervened by drugs and procedures unless it exceeds 104 degrees Fahrenheit, and the latter is the source of many diseases that threaten our quality of life in human bodies.
Currently, heart disease and its various manifestations and cancer are the two most feared and deadly diseases of our time. And they are the results of chronic inflammation. Chronic inflammation is a silent epidemic; a plague afflicting millions of unsuspecting Americans.
It is the mother of most major chronic diseases including heart disease, cancer, obesity, Alzheimer’s and many others. Chronic inflammation is typically a silent, under the radar, asymptomatic disease, until actual tissue damage and loss of function occurs.
Unlike acute inflammation, chronic inflammation creates disease if ignored and allowed to continue. A serious problem arises when the inflammatory response never turns off, when the body is continuously reacting to an offender.
This type of inflammation is usually has no obvious symptoms. It can go on silently for years until a major disease manifests with symptoms too obvious to ignore.
Again, from Dr. Tilden: “The medical world is struggling to find the cause of cancer. It is the distal end of an inflammatory process whose beginning may be any irritation. In other words, cancer is the end stage of all disease.”
Chronic inflammation needs to be avoided. Modern medicine has managed acute infectious diseases with pharmaceutical solutions that create chronic inflammation producing autoimmune diseases .
Managing or minimizing inflammation before it manifests into a recognizable disease is a vitally important key to maintaining one’s health. Diet accounts for the majority of the benefits you reap from a healthy lifestyle, and keeping inflammation in check is a major part of these benefits.
Chronic autoimmune diseases include ailments that can’t be blamed on a germ. They include lifestyle and dysfunctional dietary diseases such as diabetes 2, which itself leads to other more acute and life threatening non-infectious diseases such as heart disease and cancer.
Other examples include food allergies, asthma, arthritis, fibromyalgia, MS, and just about any other autoimmune disease imaginable.
Autoimmune diseases are the result of one’s immune system turning against the body’s organs that the immune system is supposed to protect. The result is chronic inflammation leading to one or more disease factors that worsen if the source of chronic inflammation isn’t addressed and curbed.
Chronic diseases from chronic inflammation caused by poor diet, destructive lifestyle habits, and environmental toxins account for more than 75% of disease care spending. Seven out of ten Americans die each year from chronic diseases.
In 2005, 1 out of every 2 adults had at least one chronic illness, while about 25% of people living with a chronic illness experience significant limitations in daily activities. With modern medicine, one medication leads to another for the side effects from an earlier medication.
Dr. Barry Sears, author of The Anti-Inflammation Zone: Reversing the Silent Epidemic That’s Destroying Our Health states:
Silent inflammation attacks the heart, arteries, and even the brain, and you will not even know it. Obesity is the primary cause of silent inflammation and excess body fat is causing today’s epidemic rise in countless health threats.
Instead of the false saturated fat clogged artery paradigm for poor heart health, arterial inflammation is now considered the source of heart attacks by some cardiologists who have seen the evidence of inflammation and abandoned the erroneous dogma of the lipid theory, saturated fats and cholesterol, as the major threat to heart health.
Interestingly, cholesterol usually rushes to areas of arterial inflammatory damage as an effort to heal or repair the damage inside the artery. What was observed as fatty blockages are more likely acute inflammation responses to artery wall damages that are trying to seal off the injured tissue.
It’s recognized more and more that the initial arterial damage comes from processed hydrogenated oils fats, an imbalance of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids promoted by processed foods, and added sugars in our diets. Many health experts suggest dosing omega-3 with some sort of pure fish oil or organic ground flax seeds to compensate for omega-6 to omega-3 imbalance.
There is no single direct test for inflammation. But testing is something conventional medicine does fairly well, unless you have access to Chinese medicine or Ayurveda practitioners who do pulse and tongue readings well.
Mainstream doctors use indirect methods by measuring blood levels of C-reactive protein, a pro-inflammatory marker, and homocysteine levels.
However, the good news is with the right information, you can experience the right dietary and lifestyle changes to avoid and reverse inflammation more and become less of a medical victim.
Usually a good diet, the right supplements, herbs, moderate exercise and sufficient rest, and transcending stress can resolve inflammation issues and rectify existing chronic health issues.
