It turns out the perfect library exists. And this library in China is straight out of your futuristic fantasy!
Situated in the Binhai Cultural district in Tianjin, the library is the co-created baby of Dutch design firm MVRDV and Tianjin Urban Planning & Design Institute (TUPDI). Named ‘The Eye of Binhai’, the library does have a Lord of The Rings vibe to it from the word go.
With all of 34,000 meter long shelves all over, the library can house up to 12 million books! Not only is it a book haven, the five-story structure also has lounge areas, meeting spaces, computer rooms, and audio rooms. And as much as we’re going insane about this, we’re dreading to go there ‘cause we may never want to come back.
Here are a few images of this amazing bibliophile Disneyland. Check them out and learn more about the library here.
While researching about this, we got to know that these ceiling shelves and floors are only painted to look like they contain books. However, most of them are paintings and printed images.
The perfect library doesn’t exist yet. China came close, but keep trying, world.
