Beards have now been discovered to make individuals happier, and they could help to improve the health of males too!
Research led by the University of Southern Queensland (published in the Radiation Protection Dosimetry journal), shows how beards can block 90 to 95% of the Sun’s ultraviolet rays, which can help slow down the aging process and reduce the chances of the individual getting skin cancer.
Also, individuals who experience asthma can get even more benefits from growing a beard. It was discovered that dust and pollen regularly get stuck in thick facial hair, and it can help reduce any symptoms or attacks.
Furthermore, beards retain high levels of moisture and even protect against windburn. Also, since you don’t have to shave, you get less ingrown hairs and bacterial infections.
The study that was done about beards exposed non-bearded mannequins, and bearded mannequins to the hot Australian sun, and after that, they compared the amount of radiation each type of mannequin absorbed.
It’s important to note that beards can spread infection if not properly cared for. And they can make eating some foods more challenging as some food could end up more on your facial hair than your mouth. However, it seems clear that the positive reasons for growing a beard far outweigh the negative ones.
Give it a try and start stocking up on some beard wash and oil. And ask your friends, family members, or partner to do the same. It is excellent for helping men get protected from sun and wind and also contributes to less asthma and another respiratory allergy.
