Experts have made another mind-boggling discovery as they have found evidence of DNA belonging to an unknown human species that existed some 440,000 years ago. New studies have shown that Pacific Islanders carry the DNA of a UNKNOWN human species. According to researchers, our ancestors bred with at least FOUR –even possibly more— species of other hominins, and we may have our origins WRONG.
New studies have discovered evidence that supports the idea an incredibly complex relationship existed among our ancestors and those of other hominid species over the past hundreds of thousands of years.
By applying new research techniques, experts were able to estimate the percentage of ancient hominid DNA currently residing in living people. This is how Dr. Ryan Bohlender —a geneticist at the University of Texas— was able to find evidence of numerous interbreeding events inside and outside of Africa.
The new data was presented at the American Society of Human Genetics in Vancouver, B.C. and tells us just how little we know about our origins and our ancestors who inhabited Earth hundreds of thousands of years ago.
Thanks to genetic analysis of Europeans, Asians and others with non-African descent, experts were able to find tell-tale signs that ancient humans interbred with Neanderthals. As it turns out, certain groups inherited up to four percent of their DNA from extinct hominid cousins.
Furthermore, Bolhlender discovered –after looking at the rate of genetic mixing in modern Melanisians— traces of Denisovans and Neanderthals, but also a high portion of another extinct ancestry unaccounted for.
Experts concluded that this mystery DNA means that ancient Melanesians may have bred with a third UNKNOWN group of hominids.
The team explained: “We suggest that a third archaic population related more closely to Neanderthal and Denisova than to modern humans introgressed into the San genomes studied here.”
Researchers analyzed the amount of DNA shared among Neanderthals and Denisovans and found that the third MYSTERY species most likely branched off their common ancestor some 440,000 years ago.
These aren’t just speculations, but there is genetic evidence which clearly indicates that another species inhabited parts of Southeastern Asia during the same time as Denisovans and us.
Strangely, while researchers ‘know’ this mystery species existed in the distant past, physical evidence has still NOT BEEN FOUND. Who this mystery species remained a profound mystery that researchers hope to unravel in the near future.
This, however, s the FRIST time, experts discovered what they believe is crystal clear evidence of an ancient species of humans hidden directly within our genes.
It seems that after all, we still have a long way to go to understand our origins fully. Until then, enjoy the numerous mysteries that clearly suggest history as we have been taught is incomplete.
“Overall, our findings confirm the human family tree is more complicated than we think it is,” said Dr. Bohlender.
He added: “Other archaic populations are likely to have existed, like the Denisovans, who we didn’t know about except through genetics.”
