SpaceX has given us a lot to talk about in recent months. Their numerous advancements in spaceflight are forever changing the way we look at Space and Spacecraft . It seems that the natural step, after all, is to get to Mars, as soon as possible, and their next big goal is to land on Mars as soon as 2018.
According to statements from SpaceX, the company aims at sending an unmanned spacecraft to Mars as early as 2018. SpaceX’s first foray is called ‘Red Dragon.’
The announcement made by SpaceX on Twitter is considered by many as a Race between SpaceX and NSA. The ultimate goal, according to Elon Musk is to get people to another planet as soon as possible.
If the company is successful in their goal, they will beat all the other leading space agencies around the world in sending a new robot on Mars.
NASA has big plans too. The American Space Agency has plans to send a manned mission to Mars in the 2030’s.
SpaceX ‘could provide valuable entry, descent and landing data to NASA for our journey to Mars while providing support to American industry,’ Nasa said in a statement.
The revolutionary SpaceX program is intended to develop necessary technologies that are badly needed for human transportation to the red planet, which is the ultimate goal for Musk’s privately owned company.
„Dragon 2 is designed to be able to land anywhere in the solar system,’ Musk posted on Twitter. Red Dragon Mars mission is the first test flight.“
SpaceX will provide further details on its Mars program in September at the International Astronautical Congress.
SpaceX plans to show off its Mars rocket, a heavy-lift version of the Falcon 9 booster currently in use, at the end of 2016.
The privately owned company has made incredible advancements in Spaceflight, and their latest achievements were returning Falcon 9 rockets to landing pads on land and sea, which is a huge step towards Musk’s ultimate goal: the development of cheap, reusable launch vehicles.

Earlier this year, Elon Musk, the giant entrepreneur who created Tesla Motors and PayPal, started SpaceX in 2002 said that we need to get to Mars, is the next natural step.
„Mars is the next natural step, in fact, it is the only planet we really have a shot at, at establishing a self-sustaining city on.“ Elon Musk
Elon Musk’s company Space X has its eyes on the red planet and wants to become the ultimate Galactic transportation company that will allow mankind and cargo get safely to the red planet. While the company started off humbly, it has become one of the most prestigious privately owned companies in the space industry. It is the first private company ever to send a spacecraft into orbit, and it is the company responsible for resupplying the ISS.
